Here I am running on fumes. I was up until 4 o'clock this morning because I couldn't stop my brain from turning out ideas.
Then came the gym this morning at 7. I was asked by a parent of a former student, "Why are you smiling?"
"I was up all night because I have a brilliant idea."
"Oh yeah," she asked prodding, "what idea is that?"
"I call it 'personalized experiential learning" and my students are going to become rockstars this quarter.
Here's the big picture:
I've already told my students to keep their eyes and ears open for a project that makes their mind burn, something that sets them on fire. It could be anything from a fundraiser, a small business start-up, project, problem solution, or any other self-motivated creation that requires project management skills and an authentic audience.
Somewhere at the end of the 3rd quarter we're going to host a "MJHS Show-And-Tell: Project Explosion" day that is open to friends, family, and community. Students will present in every classroom at MJHS, 10 minute presentations with 5 minutes of question-and-answer. They'll present twice over the course of two days, and the building will be open to the public to come and learn about the future minds and projects of MJHS students.
And this is our 3rd quarter project. It's huge, it's massive, I've never seen anything like it before, and I'm terrified as all else.
Here you'll find the journal that I'm making to keep things up-to-date on student progress.
